2016 Have you ever heard a lion roar? | White River Design
When the lion roared, everything went silent while everyone listened in anticipation.

Have you ever heard a lion roar?

Have you ever heard a lion roar? Every year we have a theme word that we work around. This year it was Lion. Coming from South Africa and growing up so close to the bush, I spent many nights camping out under the African stars. As we would sit around the camp fire we would listen to the cacophony of nightlife, but when the lion roared, everything went silent while everyone listened in anticipation. This is the result we wanted for WRD in 2016.

Brand Magic Masterclass

Brand Magic Masterclass lion roar

Our Brand Personalities system was initially designed for us to work through with our business client. However, due to the popularity of the system, we had many clients asking if there was a way their team or colleagues to go through the process. So we turned our face-to-face system into an online quiz where you can play the business brand or personal brand quiz.

Brand Magic Masterclass

We have seen and worked with so many people who believe that their logo is their brand. Well, apples don’t sell computers – the brand does. So how can you create a brand that resonates with your clients without spending huge $$$? That’s why we launched the Brand Magic Masterclass. This is our way to provide education and support to people who many not be able to afford our ‘Done for you’ service.

AGDA feature

We were thrilled to have our Founder and Creative Director, Debbie O’Connor highlighted as the AGDA member profile. AGDA is the Australian Graphic Design Association which we have been members of for a number of years.

Unsolicited advice #16

Don’t be shy. The reality is that as a business owner, no one is going to dish out accolades or credit for the work you do. You need to let people know what you are up to. You need to let them know about the work or good you are doing for your clients or community. This is not bragging. This is marketing. If you don’t share this information no-one will ever know what you are achieving. And if your competitors are sharing what they are up to, they will always be one step ahead of you. Share your wins, your achievements, what you are proud of and how proud you are of your team.

In the lions den

The lioness: a magnificent image of strength, passion and beauty.
The lioness pride: a creative and strategic force to be reckoned with, acting as one to change the world around them.

Quarterly team training has always been an important part of ensuring that we are all on the same page and have clear goals each quarter.

Big hairy audicious goals

Big hairy audicious goals

Our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) for 2016 is to launch 100 mobile-friendly websites! Mobile-friendly sites are what Google is looking for, they are what will bring you more clients and they are what we can help you with! Take this quick test to see if your website is mobile-friendly. Although we didn’t reach this crazy goal, we did however launch 51 websites that year which equates to pretty much one a week. We will never do something that crazy again!

Gratitude book

We introduced our gratitude book in 2015. After six months of writing 3 entries of what we’re grateful for every day into our communal gratitude journal, these are the words that have popped up the most – a lovely reminder by mid 2016 of what we were grateful for.
What rituals do you have to keep your team positive and feeling grateful?
