We certainly hit the mark ensuring that 2017 was a rewarding year. Do you ever have a word for the year that gives you focus and direction?
Women of the year awards
Firstly our Creative Director Debbie O’Connor was nominated by Tanya Davies MP Minister for Women, for the NSW Woman of the Year Awards and was named as Mulgoa Woman of the Year. Secondly, one of our longest standing clients Gina Field from Nepean Regional Security was announced as the NSW Business Woman of the Year!
Winners are grinners
Remember that time we thought it was a great idea to dive in head first and put our name in the ring for a Sydney Design Awards?Well, WE WON our third Sydney Design Award for branding!
This makes us the most awarded branding in Sydney’s West to have received this prestigious award.
The first business to ever…
For the first time in the 30 year history of the Local Business Awards awards that the Youth and Business Person had been won by the same business.
We started the night taking out the ‘Outstanding Youth’ category and finished with Debbie winning the ‘Business Person of the Year’ award for the second time.

We were contacted by LogoLounge who informed us that our design of The Westies logo was chosen to be published in their 2017 book.
As part of our #gameon theme for the year, we ramped up our Brand Strategy sessions where we brought clients on a journey of discovery and learning to help them understand the branding process, their Brand Personality and the direction the brand would go in.
Unsolicited advice #15
Don’t be shy. The reality is that as a business owner, no one is going to dish out accolades or credit for the work you do. You need to let people know what you are up to. You need to let them know about the work or good you are doing for your clients or community. This is not bragging. This is marketing. If you don’t share this information no-one will ever know what you are achieving. And if your competitors are sharing what they are up to, they will always be one step ahead of you. Share your wins, your achievements, what you are proud of and how proud you are of your team.
As designers we are constantly amazed at how many design fails are out there in the market place. Some make our eyes water, some make us shake our heads and well, there are others that just have us rolling around laughing on the floor.
How bad do they get? Take a look for yourself and enjoy a bit of a laugh.

Educating our clients
Apart from one-on-one brand strategy sessions we continued with our education series on WordPress. However, we also added a MailChimp workshop where we taught clients how to set up their account, build a database, create newsletter campaigns and read the statistics on how has opened and what they have clicked on – a very powerful marketing tool.
